Packing for storage
Goods are packed more thoroughly than for a short move, because they will sit for weeks or months. Furniture is dismantled where possible to save space.

Before storage
How to prepare goods for storage
A little preparation protects your belongings over weeks or months in storage.
Clean and dry everything
Dust, food residue and moisture cause odour, mould and pests over time. Clean furniture and appliances and let them dry fully before packing.
Defrost and drain
Defrost the fridge a day ahead, and drain the washing machine and water purifier completely.
Dismantle furniture
Beds, tables and wardrobes take far less space when dismantled, which lowers your storage cost. Fittings go in labelled bags.
Let wood breathe
For long-term storage, wooden furniture is better covered with breathable sheets than sealed airtight in plastic, which can trap moisture.
Make your own record
Photograph valuable or fragile items before packing, so you can match them against the inventory later.
Plan what you need first
If you will want some items back early, tell us while packing so they are boxed and labelled separately.

What should not go into storage
Some items cannot be stored for safety reasons, to protect your goods and everyone else's. Others are simply better kept with you.

05.Can I store just a few items?

06.Are my goods insured while in storage?

07.What items cannot be stored?
